Meet the Team

What inspired you to become a vet?

I have always had a passion for animals and my parents had me organised from an early age to phone the vet to make appointments for my pets. Initially terrifying, I soon developed a good relationship with our local vet and spent many a holiday helping out. I have owned everything from mice, hamsters, guinea pigs, rats, dogs and cats and was an avid horse rider for many years. Fortunately my husband has set a limit of 4 pets or I may well have started an animal farm by now!

When you aren't helping fur babies what are you doing?

I love spending my afternoons with my daughter Jess, my evenings sharing a wine with my husband Rob or out for dinner with my mates. In summer I love nothing better than heading out into one of the north shore bays for a peaceful paddle on my sea kayak.

Name the three traits your closest friend would use to describe you.

It’s always a bit nerve wracking to ask what people think of you – the common consensus this time around seemed to be thoughtful, loyal and passionate. I’m happy with that.

What's one thing you couldn't live without?

My cats!

If you could have any animal in the world as a pet, what would it be and why?

As a kid I always wanted a chimpanzee with a nappy … obviously I got older and wiser but not before begging my parents for years on end! These days it would probably be a donkey. While I was at uni I lived on a section with a few vet students and instead of a gardening service, our landlord gave us 5 donkeys. They were the most wonderful companions with their quirky noises at feed time and always happy for a pat. I have wanted some of my own ever since … still working on my husband and his 4 pet limit!
