In my final year of high school, I was lucky enough to get a weekend job at the local veterinary clinic. For an ardent animal lover like myself (who had not been allowed to have nearly enough pets to feel satisfied) this seemed like the perfect part time job.
From then, I was hooked on the idea of this challenging career where I could promote the health and welfare of my patients. I have never looked back.
In my earlier travels, I lived and worked for in both Australia and the UK. Working and living overseas gave me some exciting opportunities – volunteering in Malaysia with orangutans and spending time de-sexing cats in Spain were highlights. This allowed me to sustain and satisfy other passions of mine – travel and wildlife photography.
In recent years, I have undertaken additional study to obtain my Masters Degree which included research in Veterinary Ophthalmology. At the same time, I completed further training in Western Veterinary Acupuncture, both of which I now practice at The Strand Veterinarian.
