My first memory of animals is jumping on the wool bales to squish the wool down as my dad threw in the fleece in after shearing it off the sheep… That, and playing with the lambs that were orphaned.
I have no idea what happened to the mothers, but I remember being very excited about having a lamb to feed.
Growing up on a farm, the animals were not really “pets” as we see them today. We wouldn’t have even considered what diet we were feeding, let alone insurance or yearly wellness checks!
Coming into the nursing world of animals just seemed like a natural step, and now I can’t imagine being anything else.
I have a passion for cat care particularly, and really enjoy helping to create an environment that they can come into, and at least be a little more relaxed and calm during their visit.
The beauty of working at a clinic like The Strand Vet, has meant we can make that possible. Each patient and client arriving have a genuinely positive and lovely experience which is of such high value. It is the very the core of everything we do.
