Philippa Dumont de Chassart

As a child growing up on a farm in Zambia, veterinary was an obvious career choice for me. The natural world and biology continue to fascinate me.
After completing my veterinary studies at the University of Pretoria, I took off on my travels overseas. I fell in love with New Zealand, a country where I could combine my love of the outdoors and my veterinary skills.
I have worked in a wide variety of roles, including mixed animal practice in Canterbury, live animal work for the Ministry for Primary Industries, and small animal practice in Auckland.
I am delighted to be part of the Strand Veterinary Team, who care for your animals as if they were their own.
When I’m not at work , you’ll find me exploring the hills, or I may be curled up at home with my two little Burmese cats – depending on the weather!
