Meet the Team: Getting to Know Our Veterinary Nurse Jules

Our veterinary nurses play an important role in providing compassionate care to pets and supporting their owners every day. From assisting with treatments and procedures to offering advice and reassurance, they help make a difference in the lives of the animals they care for.

We recently sat down with Jules to learn more about her journey into the profession, her love for animals, and what she enjoy most about working in our community.

Jules - Team Spotlight

What inspired you to become a Veterinary Nurse?

Growing up around animals sparked my passion for caring for them, and my interest in science and helping others inspired me to pursue veterinary nursing. I was drawn to a career that combines medical knowledge with compassion, allowing me to support animals and their owners while making a positive difference in their lives.

Do you have any pets of your own?

Sadly, none with me in Auckland, but my family has 2 dogs; Ace is a Collie X and Nico is a German Shorthaired Pointer, who I miss very much!

What do you love most about working in this community?

I love the relationships created with owners and their pets. Being trusted to care for their little family members during the happy times and the difficult ones is something I feel privileged to be able to be apart of.

What’s one piece of advice you wish every pet owner knew?

Pets are experts at hiding dental pain! They can have gum inflammation, exposed tooth roots, or abscesses while still eating and acting normally. Unlike humans, they may not show obvious signs until the disease is advanced. Regular dental checks and early treatment help improve comfort and prevent dental disease from progressing.

Do you have a favourite animal? What is it and why?

I've always found sea turtles captivating because of how graceful and calm they always look!
